Vila Ombak Divers offers diving for young children under 10 years old. These dives are subject to special rules accompanied with a well defined course designed specially for introducing diving to children in a safe manner. The children dive with proper fitting equipment.

The Rules of diving for young children

PADI allows children to learn diving starting from the age of 8 years old.
Children can become a certified diver only when they reached the age of 10 years old earning a PADI Junior Open Water certified. For Children aged 8 to 9 years old, they learn diving in the swimming pool. Diving in the sea is optional and the maximum depth is 4 meters. The child must be accompanied by an instructor at all times.

Diving for young children in Gilis

Under the direct supervision of a PADI diving instructor, the process of discovering scuba diving by a child aged 8 to 9 years takes place in 3 phases:

• Commence with orientation and preparation for diving,
• Followed by a pool session which begin with simple steps and diving skills are practiced in very shallow depth,
• Finally, if the child is comfortable and confident to do an optional dive in the sea. The instructor company the child to explore the underwater world at a maximum depth of 2 meters.

Undoubtedly, the choice of the dive site will allow the child to discover an abundant aquatic life even at shallow depth, including turtles.

Diving Equipment for children

Vila Ombak Divers provide a wide range of scuba diving equipment. For young children, we have two small diving tanks suitable for their size.
These diving tanks are much smaller and lighter compared to the normal 12l diving tanks. Moreover, the amount of air contained in these bottles is sufficient for young children as they have smaller lungs and diving at a depth of 2 meters to 4 meters.

Last by not least, we have BCDs and wet suits in size XXS and fins in small sizes to fit their tiny delicate feet.
